Play of shadow across a solid, energizing the empty space between forms, capturing the shift of reflected light, a subtle rainbow of mineral color, broad gestural marks and flame imprinted surface are inspirations to transform clay into art.  The work is influenced by simplicity in architecture, painting and sculpture of the Modern Design Movement through classic techniques, drawing on paper, applying systems of proportion, observing historic precedent, perception theory of composition, using manual tools to build by hand and firing in atmospheric kilns.
